Gerald Chambers to Serve on Professional Liability Defense Federation Committee

COLUMBIA, S.C., (June 29, 2010) — Gerald Chambers, shareholder in Turner Padget’s Columbia office, has been chosen to co-chair the Healthcare Committee of the Professional Liability Defense Federation. Gerald will contribute to article publication, assist in monitoring the PLDF news and respond to member inquiries for assistance, and to assist in annual meeting seminar presentation planning.

Mr. Chambers joined Turner Padget in 2001 and concentrates his practice in the areas of medical malpractice, long-term care litigation and legal malpractice. He also focuses his practice in representing the interests of product manufacturers and designers in litigation involving product liability, medical device and pharmaceutical litigation.

The Professional Liability Defense Federation is a not-for-profit organization designed to bring together attorneys, claims professionals, and risk management specialists to share expertise and information helpful to the successful defense of professional liability claims. The Healthcare Committee focuses on a wide range of healthcare malpractice issues. Standard of care issues unique to each profession, and approaches to causation defenses, are key topics emphasized by this committee In addition, expert witness recruitment, verdict/settlement ramifications and approaches to juror understanding and acceptance of non-traditional healthcare are additional subjects within this committee’s scope.
