GREENVILLE, SC - Greenville Natural Health Center has completed a 1,900-square-foot expansion of its offices at 1901 Laurens Road in Greenville. The new center features six treatment rooms for acupuncture and massage therapy, a product room, dedicated office space, and open space that will be used for patient and consumer seminars.
The expansion is a result of increased demand for natural health options offered by Greenville Natural Health Center, and a desire to create an area resource center for Alternative Medicine, said Dr. Marina Ponton, owner and acupuncture physician.
“I have a real passion for educating patients and consumers about the benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the prevention of disease, and about integrating ancient practices into modern medicine for successful outcomes,” Ponton said. “This expansion will allow us to host educational seminars, and to serve as a resource and information center on natural health modalities including acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, diet modifications, and breathing and movement therapies.”
Opened by Ponton in 2007, Greenville Natural Health Center integrates biomedicine (Western medicine) with Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), utilizing a holistic (mind-body) approach to issues such as chronic fatigue, chronic pain, menopause and infertility. Ponton has worked and lectured in the United States, Sweden, and Holland, and completed extensive study at the American University of Paris, FAMU University in Prague, The University of Miami, and The Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine. This September, Ponton will receive her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, the highest education level available to acupuncture physicians in the United States. A DOAM will allow Ponton to participate in government or privately funded research projects and to teach at the university level.
