Nominations for Palmetto Pillar Awards due Friday

The Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the Palmetto Pillar Awards through Aug. 6.

The Palmetto Pillar Awards are organized by the Chamber's Information Technology Council. The Consortium for Enterprise Systems Management is the presenting sponsor of the awards, which are given to professionals and companies using technology in the Greater Midlands region.

The theme for this year's awards is "The Art of Technology". A special Pillar of Technology in the Arts award will be presented this year to recognize artists in any medium who either use information technology to create their art or promote information technology through art. Art organizations that use information technology in an innovative way to promote their group also will be considered.

Palmetto Pillar Awards will represent the following categories:

Pillar of Student Achievement
Pillar of Leadership in Technology
Pillar of One to Watch
Pillar of Public Service through IT
Pillar of Start-up Venture
Pillar of Technology in the Arts
Pillar of Licensed IT Product
Pillar of Custom Application Development
Pillar of Cloud Services
Pillar of IT Infrastructure Services

The awards will be presented at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at Embassy Suites. Columbia Mayor-elect Steve Benjamin will speak at the award ceremony.
