Fisher and Phillips Attorney Appointed as Chair of S.C. Bar Conventions Committe

COLUMBIA (August 3, 2010) – National labor and employment law firm Fisher & Phillips LLP, announces that J. Hagood Tighe, a partner in the Columbia office, has been appointed to serve a two-year term as Chair of the South Carolina Bar’s Conventions Committee.

“The annual convention is the flagship gathering of the South Carolina Bar, and I am honored to serve as Chair of the Bar’s Conventions Committee,” said Tighe, who recently served as Chair of the South Carolina Bar’s Labor and Employment section and was elected to the House of Delegates in May. “We look forward to bringing lawyers together for important educational and professional opportunities in 2011 and 2012.”

As a part of his two-year term, Tighe and the Conventions Committee will oversee the planning and execution of the 2011 S.C. Bar Convention in Hilton Head Island, S.C, as well as the 2012 conference, scheduled to be held in Columbia. Featuring nationally-renowned speakers, S.C. Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean Toal’s State of the Judiciary remarks and the Memory Hold the Door ceremony to honor deceased Bar members, the Bar Convention regularly draws a large number of attorneys from across the state.

Tighe practices exclusively in the area of labor and employment law, representing management in union campaigns and employment litigation. Tighe also provides proactive advice and training to supervisors and management designed to minimize the risk of litigation in areas of harassment, EEO compliance and FMLA, et. al. Tighe was a 2004 recipient of the Silver Compleat Lawyer Award from the University of South Carolina School of Law Alumni Association.
