Barefoot and Justice to Receive Leadership in Law Award

Florence, S.C., (August 11, 2010) — Turner Padget is pleased to announce that Walter H. Barefoot and Arthur E. Justice, Jr., have been selected to receive the 2010 Leadership in Law award presented by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly. The award recognizes those individuals whose leadership, both in the legal profession and in the community, has made a positive impact on our state.

Walt is active in firm management, serving as managing shareholder of the Florence office. He has been a member of the Workers’ Compensation team since 1991 and is a member of the Section Council of the Workers Compensation Section of the South Carolina board. Walt is also a community leader, having served as chairman and now as a past chairman of the Florence County Disabilities Foundation. He currently serves on the executive board as Executive Vice President of the Pee Dee Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Art has been a trial lawyer with Turner Padget his entire career, which spans more than 25 years. He is the Practice Group Leader for the firm’s Business Litigation group and has experience in a number of diverse, yet interrelated, areas of practice. Art believes that involvement in his community is important. He is past chairman of the board of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of Florence County Progress and immediate past chairman of the board of the Florence United Way, having also served as the Treasurer and Campaign Chair. In addition, Art is currently co-chair of the Health Law Litigation Committee of the ABA Section of Litigation, and formerly co-chair of the Section’s Expert Witnesses Committee.

South Carolina Lawyers Weekly honors members of the legal community with the Leadership in Law Award. Recipients of this award demonstrate outstanding achievement in these key areas; achievement in law; involvement in the profession; support of the community; and mentoring.
