Phillips Staffing Implements International WorkKeys Program;
Appoints WorkKeys Manager & Partners with Greenville Works

Phillips Staffing is expanding its employment services with the addition of WorkKeys Profiling, a job skills assessment tool that measures real-world skills. Phillips is making available WorkKeys Profiling, the well-established and recognized international assessment system, to allow its clients to better identify and hire qualified candidates. Phillips has assigned Josh Newton as Business Development Manager to profile positions for industry--determining the critical skills needed by giving companies the tools to improve efficiency, reduce training cost and increase their employee retention rate.
A 2006 Clemson University Business Management graduate, Newton began his career in real estate investment and for the past two years has been Business Development Manager with Phillips. He has undergone extensive WorkKeys training and certification by ACT (the non-profit parent organization of WorkKeys) to profile these positions. By offering WorkKeys Profiling, Phillips is filling a great industry void so that employers can better identify the critical workforce skill sets needed to be competitive in today’s fast- paced global economy. “We have always strived to stay proactive when it comes to serving our clients with the best solutions possible and WorkKeys Profiling has allowed us to continue that tradition, said Phillips Staffing President Ed Parris.
WorkKeys offers nine assessments: Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, Locating Information, Applied Technology, Listening, Writing, Workplace Observation, Business Writing and Teamwork.
Phillips and Greenville Works & the first WorkKeys Pilot Program
To demonstrate its commitment to a strong WorkKeys presence in the Upstate, Phillips has partnered with a select group of staffing agencies and Greenville Works to launch a WorkKeys Pilot Program, where Phillips will be offering profiling.

Greenville Works, a partnership of organizations working together to help new and existing businesses meet their workforce and business growth needs, began a WorkKeys initiative in 2010 to increase the number of employers who recognize, request or require WorkKeys while also increasing the number of students and job seekers that earn a WorkKeys Career Readiness Certificate.
“Greenville Works’ partner organizations view WorkKeys as an effective tool to upgrade the skills of the local workforce to better match what industry needs—ultimately benefitting economic development,” said Greenville Works Project Director, Laura Harmon. “Phillips Staffing recognizes that productive employers need well prepared employees, and they are committed to facilitating that process. Their support of WorkKeys demonstrates their commitment to business’ success.”
