Salute to Manufacturing Awards Luncheon - September 22 - Columbia
The Salute to Manufacturing, South Carolina’s premier manufacturing recognition event honoring the state’s top small, medium and large manufacturing companies for their manufacturing excellence, economic impact, commitment to workforce development and community stewardship, has announced the 2010 nominees. Nominees and winners will be honored September 22 with a luncheon at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center on Bush River Road in Columbia.

This is the second year the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and the Silver Crescent Foundation are co-hosting this celebration of manufacturing excellence in South Carolina. The selection process is based upon: Quality Improvement Efforts; Quality of Life Programs; Improvements in the Environment; Involvement in Local Community & Economic Development; Education and Workforce Development; and, Overall Effectiveness.
“The Salute to Manufacturing provides an opportunity for business and community leaders to recognize the accomplishments of South Carolina manufacturers, who are critical to the overall competitiveness of the state,” said Otis Rawl, president and chief executive officer of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. “We invite South Carolina’s business community to celebrate the valuable contributions manufacturing provides to the Palmetto State.”
In addition to the awards, the Salute to Manufacturing will feature renowned author, Gus Whalen, whose recent book, Hooked at the Roots, is in its second printing. Gus Whalen’s passion is education, manufacturing and philanthropy, which he believes have worked together to help strengthen communities across America. He is the author of four books, including The Featherbone Principle, The Featherbone Spirit, The Gift of Renewal and Hooked at the Roots, The Evolution of Featherbone Communiversity.
