Microburst Learning’s Sarah Langdon recognized as Intern of the Year

Microburst Learning is pleased to honor Sarah Langdon of Troy, OH, for her recent recognition by the University of South Carolina Career Center as the Community Internship Program’s Intern of the Year. Sarah is a senior majoring in journalism and mass communications, and her parents are Adam and Leora Langdon of Troy, OH.

Langdon joined Microburst this summer to help with video production and editing for the company’s e-learning products, including its highly interactive Virtual Job Shadow modules used by schools across the state to expose students to career opportunities. She has worked on more than 20 projects since starting her internship and has brought those projects in ahead of schedule in each case. She has shown leadership, initiative, a commitment to managing details, and a professionalism that surpasses her young age and experience, according to Microburst’s management team.

“When Sarah began her internship she was not familiar with the software we use to edit movies,” explained Ann Brown, Chief Operating Officer at Microburst. “Not only has she mastered a complicated software package, she can create exciting and fast-paced films using even the most complicated features of the software. She has expanded her organizational skills to work complex digital file structures and has learned how to choose which portions of a movie are important to keep and how to arrange those sections to best teach a process or concept.”

“Since Sarah has joined us, the quality of our videos has leapfrogged over the quality of our past work. Sarah has combined a creative mindset with her advanced technical skills to film and edit our videos. Sarah pays very close attention to detail and has a great eye for what our users want to see. We are very proud to show all of her edited work,” Brown added. “In fact, we plan to offer her a full-time position when she graduates!”

The University of South Carolina Career Center was awarded funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to create a Community Internship Program for USC-Columbia students. This program provides matching funds to employers for the purpose of hiring USC-Columbia students as interns.
