Wireless Everywhere Print Anywhere (WEPA).in Higher Education
Founded in 1964, Charleston Southern University (CSU) is one of South Carolina’s largest accredited independent universities, with more than 3000 students. The university has been named to the John Templeton Foundation’s Honor Roll of Character Building Colleges and has gained recognition as an institution dedicated to helping students develop intellectually, socially, culturally, and spiritually.
The recipient of several technology firsts, including becoming the first all-wireless campus in South Carolina, CSU is committed to using technology to enhance the learning experience and student life. Always vigilant for new technology that produces an ROI and satisfies a need, CSU is the first in the state to partner with Wireless Everywhere Print Anywhere (WEPA).
WEPA uses “cloud computing” which allows college students the luxury of uploading print documents to the WEPA network and printing them at their convenience at any WEPA kiosk, not only on their campus, but anywhere in the world. WEPA places kiosks at multiple locations on campuses to help re-distribute the printing bottleneck. Now, students can print in dorms, cafeterias, student centers as well as classrooms, labs and libraries.
WEPA is unique to the printing world because it can handle print documents from multiple platforms (Windows, Mac, Lenox and Unix) and students can insert their USB jump-drive at the kiosk, pull up their documents and print on the go.
WEPA has integrated with Blackboard and CBORD to allow students to use their campus card to purchase print documents from the WEPA kiosk. WEPA also has a secure and easy Payment Card Industry compliant system that allows anyone to pay with his or her debit or credit card.
The key challenges facing Universities and Colleges today are saving money, increasing employee productivity, and enhancing student education with advancing technology, WEPA satisfies this need.
