Richardson Plowden Adds Kelley to Its Litigation Team

COLUMBIA, S.C., September 28, 2010 - - Richardson Plowden is pleased to announce that Michelle Parsons Kelley has joined the firm’s Columbia office as a staff attorney. Kelley will be a member of the Richardson Plowden Litigation Practice Group.

Kelley is an experienced litigator. She served as Assistant Attorney General in the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office for three years; focusing on insurance fraud prosecution, direct criminal appeals and post-conviction relief. During this time, she presented oral arguments to South Carolina Supreme Court and the South Carolina Court of Appeals and presented more than 250 post-conviction relief hearings in state circuit courts. In addition, Kelley has held numerous clerkships, including positions with the South Carolina Senate, the Office of Governor Mark Sanford, and two law firms.

Kelley earned her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina (USC) School of Law, where she served as associate editor of the South Carolina Journal of International Law & Business. She earned a Master’s of Public Administration from USC and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, graduating Magna Cum Laude with honors from USC Honors College. Kelley has received further professional education through the National Attorneys General Training and Research Institute and National Litigation Academy. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar.

An established leader, Kelley serves as the Commissioner for the South Carolina Commission on Women, an appointed advisor for the South Carolina Federal Credit Union Board of Advisors, and is Chair of the Cinderella Project, sponsored by the South Carolina Bar.
