WHY: Fuel costs, air quality, and the need to utilize domestic fuels are becoming salient topics among public and private groups. Organizations with vehicle fleets now have the opportunity to convert their fleets to operate on alternative fuels like propane, biofuels or use electricity. By implementing these alternative fuels certain organizations like municipal or private companies who operate fleets can improve air quality, save operational costs on fuel and develop a positive image by utilizing a domestic fuel. Local experts will be presenting the business cases of certain alternative fuels at the Odyssey Week 2010: Alternative Fuels Seminar.

About the Palmetto State Clean Fuels Coalition
The Palmetto State Clean Fuels Coalition is one of nearly 90 similar coalitions in the United States that work in tandem with the U.S. Department of Energy, and local resources to reduce the amount of petroleum used in the transportation sector. This is done by identifying fleets of vehicles, providing financial and technical assistance to fleet managers on efficiency measures as well as vehicle conversions that operate on domestic, clean, cheaper and in some cases, renewable fuels. These efforts over the last seven years have eliminated millions of tons of CO2, particulate matter, and other greenhouse gas pollutants from emissions from vehicles.
