Kershaw County Endowment Benefits Several Community Organizations - Grants total over $4,000
Columbia, SC (October 4, 2010) – The Kershaw County Endowment, which operates under the umbrella of Central Carolina Community Foundation, announces grants to several philanthropic organizations including the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County, Harvest Hope Food Bank, Reach Out and Read South Carolina, Sistercare Inc., and The Upton Trio. The grants to these organizations total over $4,000.
With strong footprints in the Kershaw community, these organizations plan to use the funding for various philanthropic endeavors, including the Healing Arts program within the Fine Arts Center, a new literacy-friendly waiting area at the Kershaw County Health Department for Reach Out and Read South Carolina to Sistercare’s Economics Against Abuse program, which helps empower domestic violence survivors. Harvest Hope Food Bank plans to use the funding to expand their Mobile Food Pantry program in Kershaw County while The Upton Trio, which presents chamber music concerts to underserved Kershaw County schools, plans to use the funding to provide educational chamber music concerts to all 3rd through 5th grade elementary students in Kershaw County public schools along with the Montessori School of Camden and Camden Military Academy.
