Columbia College and Midlands Technical College create new transfer option
Columbia College and Midlands Technical College (MTC) have partnered to offer an additional transfer option. The new 2+2 Program provides MTC students a seamless transition into Columbia College’s new Child Life Specialist, E-Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communication, and Public Health Science and Delivery bachelor’s degree programs.
Columbia College will recognize MTC course credits from special two-year tracks as if the student had been enrolled at Columbia College for two years. Students who enroll in these programs while at MTC will be guided through advisement for course selection to ensure they are meeting all necessary program prerequisites before they transfer.
Columbia College and MTC created a Bridge Program in March of this year, further enhancing the transition process for MTC students who wish to enroll in the new 2+2 Program.
In addition to outlining prerequisites, the 2+2 Program will allow Columbia College and MTC to work together through service learning on joint projects such as Public Health Science and Delivery, which will benefit the community and assist MTC students in preparing for the upper-level coursework.
Students in both the Bridge Program already in place and the new 2+2 Program will be offered the opportunity to participate in identified Columbia College activities while attending MTC. These opportunities include campus and cultural events. Participating in these activities reinforces student engagement and supports the transition from MTC to Columbia College.
Columbia College and MTC will hold information sessions on the 2+2 Program on the MTC Beltline Campus Tuesday, October 19, at 6 p.m. in Wade Martin 104; and on the MTC Airport Campus Thursday, October 21, at 2 p.m. in Academic Student Center 225. These sessions are open to the public with no preregistration required.
