Jared Garraux of Richardson Plowden Selected as A 2011 Emerging Legal Leader Finalist by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly

COLUMBIA, S.C., January 4, 2011 - - Richardson, Plowden & Robinson, P.A. is pleased to announce that attorney Jared H. Garraux was selected as one of 18 finalists for South Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s 2011 Emerging Legal Leaders. The Emerging Legal Leaders recognition is the first annual awards event hosted by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly to honor young lawyers.

The Emerging Legal Leaders awards seek to highlight and honor those attorneys that have been licensed for ten years or less and work on a daily basis to make a difference both in and out of their legal profession. Finalists were selected based on their leadership, professional involvement, and community outreach.

“Since Jared joined our firm, he has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities,” says Steve Pugh, managing shareholder at Richardson Plowden. “His solid skill sets and initiative make him well-deserving of this award. We’re proud to have him represent Richardson Plowden among the emerging young attorneys in South Carolina.”

Garraux is a member of Richardson Plowden’s Construction Law Practice Group. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2007. Prior to joining Richardson Plowden, he gained nearly a decade of experience in the construction industry. He has participated as a lecturer on South Carolina Building Codes and has contributed to numerous other seminars related to construction law in South Carolina. Garraux is also active in the American Bar Association Forum on Construction, the Construction Section of the South Carolina Bar, and is currently the president of the Young Lawyers Division of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association.

Outside of the courtroom, Garraux is the co-founder and commissioner of the Columbia Attorney Basketball League, which provides support for the Epworth Children’s Home. The basketball league includes lawyers from over 30 different firms and agencies in the Columbia area. He is also a participant of the American Subcontractors Association of the Carolinas and the Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas.

South Carolina Lawyer’s Weekly will hold a reception to honor the Emerging Legal Leader finalists on Thursday, January 27. During the reception, the organization will announce the ten overall winners from the state.
