COLUMBIA, S.C., March 30, 2011 - - Richardson Plowden & Robinson, P.A., is pleased to announce that three of its attorneys, Eugene H. Matthews, Franklin J. Smith, Jr., and S. Nelson Weston, Jr., have been selected to the 2011 South Carolina Super Lawyers.

Super Lawyers is a national listing of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The magazine is published in all 50 states and features articles about attorneys named to the Super Lawyers list. Matthews was recognized as a Super Lawyer in Employment and Labor Law. He is a shareholder in the firm and focuses his practice on employment law, administrative and regulatory law, civil rights litigation, and appellate litigation. Certified by the South Carolina Supreme Court as a specialist in employment and labor law, Matthews has extensive experience litigating claims concerning a variety of employment and other business issues. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the North Carolina Bar, and the South Carolina Bar’s House of Delegates. Matthews earned his Bachelor of Arts from Furman University, his Master of Arts degree from Yale University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia.

Smith was recognized as a Super Lawyer in Construction Litigation. He is a shareholder in the firm and focuses his practice on construction law, including construction litigation, contract drafting and negotiation, claims resolution and avoidance, design professional malpractice, fidelity and surety law, coverage issues, and insurance defense. Smith is listed in the 2010 Best Lawyers in America® for construction law. He is a member of the American Bar Association Forum on the Construction Industry, Panel Member of the American Arbitration Association, Past Chair of the Construction Section of the South Carolina Bar Association, Member of the Board of Advisers for Clemson University Civil Engineering Department, South Carolina Defense Trial Attorney’s Association, and American Society of Civil Engineers. A certified mediator, Smith earned his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Clemson University and his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

Weston was recognized as a Super Lawyer in Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights Law. He is a shareholder in the firm and focuses his practice on banking, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, business and commercial law, collections law and real estate. He is a certified specialist in debtor and creditor law and bankruptcy law by the South Carolina Supreme Court. Weston is a member of the South Carolina Bar, Richland County Bar Association, the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys, and the South Carolina Bankruptcy Law Association. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of South Carolina and his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
