TOWN Magazine Debuts to Celebrate the Upstate, Bucking the Trend In Publishing
GREENVILLE, S.C. – March 31, 2011 – A new monthly magazine that will take glossy style to the next level is ready to debut throughout the Upstate region.
TOWN Magazine will be available to the general public on Friday, April 1.
The new magazine promises to offer compelling articles, stylish design, and captivating photography. TOWN will engage the reader with illuminating profiles and timely features on art, culture, and style along with a guide to the area’s lively social scene.
TOWN is the brainchild of Community Journals, LLC, publisher of the Greenville Journal, Spartanburg Journal, At Home, Behind the Counter, and other local publications. Mark Johnston, president and chief executive of Community Journals, said his company saw the need for a publication that could serve the entire Upstate region while combining the best of sophisticated, “city” style magazines with top-notch photography.
“We reviewed magazines across the country to find the correct formula for our market,” Johnston said. Response from the business community to TOWN has been strong, as evidenced by the advertising support in the premier issue and throughout 2011. “We felt we were on to something with this magazine, but the initial success has exceeded our expectations,” Johnston said.
TOWN is printed in a large-page format that is about twice the size of a conventional glossy magazine. It debuts at a time when many magazines and newspapers have been shrinking page sizes and trimming their number of pages.
“This is bucking the trend,” said Jack Bacot, editor in chief of TOWN Magazine. Bacot said the large format is popular with upscale consumers of all ages and he hopes TOWN can be used by various local organizations to help promote the Upstate. “A well executed city magazine touches all areas of the community and is embraced by all.”
TOWN Magazine is distributed free to select homes and businesses in the Upstate and will be available throughout the area. Subscriptions are available for $29 per year. A digital version along with additional information will be available at www.TownGreenville.com.
