Over 40 Upstate Businesses Named Senior Action MVPs
GREENVILLE, SC – April 20, 2011 – Senior Action, the non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening Greenville County’s maturing population and their families by providing access to resources needed for physical, emotional and social well-being, has named 45 Upstate businesses to its 2011 Most Valuable Partner (MVP) program.
The Senior Action MVP (Most Valued Partner) program connects Upstate businesses with thousands of participants in Senior Action programs, while also providing much- needed financial support to help underwrite core programs and services that Senior Action provides to Greenville County seniors.
“These 45 quality businesses represent a near doubling in MVP participation by Upstate businesses in just the last two years,” said Andrea Smith, Senior Action Executive Director and CEO, in making the announcement. “This clearly indicates that Upstate businesses recognize the importance and financial clout of the senior segment of our population, and we are pleased to create this forum whereby both businesses and senior consumers can come together.”
Through the MVP program, participating business provide presentations, workshops, sampling or promotion of services and solutions that they offer to seniors to help ensure that seniors are adequately equipped to deal with the personal, financial and long term care challenges they will face as they age.
The MVP program also holds monthly “Buzz” meetings that engage MVP businesses with one another, while creating a forum for Senior Action to update their MVP partners about social, economic and organizational dynamics impacting both seniors and Senior Action.
“With Senior Action providing a comprehensive array of services to meet the social, physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional needs of Greenville’s mature population, partnering with these quality businesses is critically important,” said Ms. Smith. “The MVP partners provide valuable information on services and solutions of interest to seniors, the companies serve as well-educated ambassadors on the needs of our senior citizens, and their financial support helps us to deliver critical services that our clients need,.”
Senior Action provides a variety of health and wellness programs, social and civic involvement initiatives, and a mix of dining, transportation, care management and home care services to seniors over the age of 55 in 11 locations across Greenville County, and in partnership with numerous other service providers in the community.
