USGBC-SC Chapter Announces New Executive Director

The USGBC-SC Chapter, Executive Director Selection Committee and Board of Directors are pleased to announce the hiring of Melissa Metcalf Le Roy as its new Executive Director.

The Executive Director will lead all aspects of USGBC-SC Chapter in the fulfillment of its mission to transform our communities by making green building relevant and accessible to everyone in our state.

“Melissa is a strong leader with an impressive background and skill set,” said Adam Bernholz, Chairman of USGBC-SC Chapter. “She is a great fit for our Chapter and brings a diversified background to the Executive Director position for USGBC-SC Chapter.”

Most recently, Melissa worked as a nonprofit consultant helping nonprofit organizations with structure, volunteer management and strategic planning. She has also been a speaker at the AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) conference, the NC Center for Nonprofit conference and the SCANPO (South Carolina Association of Nonprofit Organizations) conference, providing Continuing Education Credits to help others maintain their CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) certification.

Melissa has been Executive Director, Foothills Equestrian Nature Center, responsible for fundraising, grant writing, volunteer leadership, program development, marketing and advertising with Social Media.

As an Instructor for Duke University Continuing Studies Nonprofit Management
Program, Melissa taught classes in NC, SC & VA on fundraising, volunteer management, accounting, special events, marketing, social media and on the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit boards and Executive Directors.

Melissa has a Master Naturalist Certificate from Clemson University and an Advanced Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University.

“I feel passionate about the mission of USGBC-SC Chapter. As a group, I know that we can take this organization to a higher level and become a model for other states.” said Melissa.
