Technovation Entrepreneur Sponsoring Startup Weekend, Hosting Webinar

(Cary, N.C.) Technovation Entrepreneur (TM), a multi-functional, integrated business program to transition research into marketable products and build viable businesses, is sponsoring Startup Weekend June 3-5 at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham and offering a discount to attendees for an upcoming webinar.

“After the Start: Take Your Idea and Make a Profitable Business” is a six-hour series available to Startup Weekend attendees for $79 who register on-site this Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The price for non-attendees is $396. Technovation Entrepreneur (TM) is presented through the Triangle-based international strategic business consulting firm F.O.C.U.S. (TM) Resources.

Startup Weekend is a three-day, hands-on experience where entrepreneurs can find out if their startup ideas are viable. Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.

“The entrepreneurial spirit brings with it excitement and innovation, which can sometimes overwhelm the essential mechanics of starting a business – taxes, accounting, marketing, public relations, and securities regulations,” F.O.C.U.S. (TM) Resources President Lea Strickland said. According to Strickland, “After the Start” takes participants from the general understanding of the “big picture” items they need to address to the specific deliverables needed to build and maintain a successful innovative business.

The webinar series is presented in four parts on June 9, 16, 23, and 30, with Strickland as host:
