COR Saturday Day of Service Series in collaboration with Columbia Urban League Young Professionals
You spoke. We listened.
COR Saturday Days of Service are back!
Last year, COR members told us loud and clear they'd like more opportunities to provide volunteer service, make immediate impact, learn more about isses the community faces and meet like-minded people. We're not talking paper pushing and phone calls - you told us you wanted to get sweaty and dirty!
The COR Community Involvement Initiative is pleased to bring back the Saturday Days of Service series. At least once a quarter, we'll arrange a "done in a day" service project with a chance to give back, have a good time, learn more about your community and issues we face and meet fellow COR members.
We had a fantastic day of service in May at the Ronald McDonald House of Columbia. In June, we're proud to partner with Columbia Urban League Young Professionals to meet critical needs at St. Lawrence Place.
We need your help and hope you'll sign up to volunteer.
About St. Lawrence Place
Founded: 1989
Location: 2400 Waites Road; Columbia, SC 29204
Overview: Each of us has faced that moment: that space of time when our lives took the unexpected turn. Whether is was personal loss, tragic circumstances or a seemingly invisible force of will, we found ourselves at a crossroads. Our options were to avoid the challenge and let it chip away at our lives, or go through it, and conquer it in the end.
St. Lawrence Place is here to help address the challenge of homelessness, a station in life that is all too prevalent among us. We provide a place of transitional housing, but more importantly, an avenue for hope, healing and change for the families who choose to enter our program.
St. Lawrence Place is an environment of 28 housing units that provides programming and transitional housing – up to two years – for qualifying families. More than bricks and mortar, St. Lawrence Place provides the structure, training and support that families in crisis need to sustain their independence.
Mission: To provide support services, life skills and transitional housing to enable homeless families to achieve independent living as productive members of the community.
