Clemson and Furman Summer Interns Join the Appalachian Development Corporation
Appalachian Development Corporation, (www.appalachiandevelopmentcorp.com), is proud to announce that Alex Draftz and Mo Sparks have joined the organization as summer 2011interns in ADC’s Micro Loan Program.
In their positions, Draftz and Sparks will assist in providing entrepreneurial technical assistance and consulting for start-up and existing small businesses and financing for small businesses ($50k and under).
Alex Draftz is a rising senior Business Administration and Economics double major at Furman University. During summer 2010, he participated in Furman’s Hollingsworth Undergraduate Research Program in Economics, where he conducted research on the effect of state tax policy on entrepreneurial activity in South Carolina counties and presented the results in New York City at the Eastern Economics Association conference.
Mo Sparks is a rising senior at Clemson University. Sparks is a Financial Management major with a focus in Real Estate Development and a minor in Accounting. He previously completed an internship with the Clemson University Office of the CFO, where he worked on streamlining university processes and tracking saving associated with university initiatives. Upon graduation, he plans to pursue a career within Real Estate Development.
The Appalachian Development Corporation (ADC) is a non-profit economic development lending corporation offering multiple financing options that can be structured to meet various needs using “gap-financing” loans. ADC’s primary target area of operations is the six counties of Upstate South Carolina. Additionally, the ADC is an approved lender for the USDA Rural Micro Entrepreneur Assistance Program and the SBA Micro Loan Assistance Program. Through these programs eligible candidates will receive technical assistance (TA) to support the development and ongoing success of their business. This program targets eight counties of Upstate South Carolina and provides micro loans up to $50K.
