Central Carolina Community Foundation conducts Literacy 2030 Focus Groups

COLUMBIA, S.C. (June 8, 2011) — Central Carolina Community Foundation will be holding focus groups Tuesday, June 14 through Thursday, June 16 to discuss Literacy 2030, an initiative to make South Carolina 100 percent literate by 2030.

“South Carolina consistently receives poor scores in regards to basic education and literacy,” said JoAnn Turnquist, President and CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation. “However, with on-going discussion, community collaboration and ideation among our state’s citizens, educators, businesses and legislators we can combat the low literacy in our state and rewrite the future.”

The public is invited to attend the focus groups conducted by Margaret Doughty, founder of the national organization Literacy Powerline, at one of the following locations:
