James Simmons Promoted to Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology, Additive Manufacturing Center Operations Mgr

James Simmons will work with industrial designers and manufacturing engineers looking to launch successful rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing projects.

FLORENCE, SOUTH CAROLINA / June 20, 2011 – The Additive Manufacturing Center at Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing & Technology, today announced James Simmons accepted the organization’s operations manager position. As a rapid prototyping technician and student of mechanical engineering, he has managed product development projects and operated 3D printers, fused deposition modeling, stereolithography and selective laser sintering equipment.

“I’m very pleased to have James Simmons accept this position,” said SiMT’s director Jack Roach. “We were able to get to know and appreciate his abilities as our center’s RP technician and he will be an asset to our client’s rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing projects.”

Prior to joining SiMT, Simmons successfully completed a work-study program at Florence Darlington Technical College. Simmons also studied mechanical engineering at Clemson University. A Solidworks expert, he teaches Computer Aided Drafted (CAD) courses for continuing education students.
