Family Connection Announces July Events

Columbia, S.C. (June 21, 2011) — Family Connection of South Carolina, a parent-to-parent network for families of children with special needs, hosts a number of monthly events and meetings to keep families connected and provide a fun outlet for their children. Family Connection has some exciting and fun events planned this July including:

Boy Scout Troop Meeting
Monday, July 4, 11 and 25 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Family Connection office (2712 Middleburg Dr. Ste 103, Columbia)

Buddy Walk Kick-Off Party
Friday, July 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Saluda Shoals Park (5605 Bush River Road) at the Water Oak Shelter. Bring your own picnic, and come to discuss Buddy Walk, a 1-mile walk to celebrate people with down syndrome.

Buddy Walk Planning Meeting
Saturday, July 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Family Connection office. Lunch provided. Call 252-0914 for childcare arrangements.

Down Syndrome Playgroup
Saturday, July 9 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Family Connection office.

Parent Group
Tuesday, July 12 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Family Connection office For all parents of children with special needs under 12 years old. Children welcome as well.

Bouncerific
Tuesday, July 19 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bouncerific (921 Longtown Rd.) Free bouncing for children with special needs and their siblings.

Legos & Lunch
Thursday, July 7 and Tuesday, July 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Family Connection office Bring lunch and legos. Everyone is welcome.

Scrapbooking
Saturday, July 23 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Family Connection office. Bring your own supplies.

Monkey Joe’s
Wednesday, July 27 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Monkey Joe’s (109 Park Place Ct., Lexington.) Free to children with special needs and their siblings.

SMILES Mom’s Night Out
Monday, July 25 at 7 p.m. in Lexington. Call Family Connection office (803-252-0914) for location.
