Reality Check: America's Best High Schools reports NC has 5X the best schools and Georgia 3X more schools than SC
Newsweek recently announced its list of America's Best High Schools. Schools were judged based on:
- Four-year, on-time graduation rate (25%)
- Percent of 2010 graduates who enrolled immediately in college (25%)
- AP/IB/AICE tests per graduate (25%)
- Average SAT and/or ACT score (10%)
- Average AP/IB/AICE exam score (10%)
- AP/IB/AICE courses offered per graduate (5%)
There are five times as many North Carolina schools (21) and three times the number of Georgia schools (12) on the list as there are South Carolina schools (4). North Carolina and Georgia have roughly twice the population of SC..
