Amy Love to Lead S.C. Department of Commerce’s Marketing and Communications Division

COLUMBIA, S.C. – July 13, 2011 – The South Carolina Department of Commerce today announced that Amy E. Love will lead the agency’s Marketing and Communications division, serving as spokeswoman.

Love comes to the S.C. Department of Commerce from New Carolina – South Carolina’s Council on Competitiveness, where she was the deputy executive director. Love was part of the start-up team that launched New Carolina in 2004, an economic development group focused on a statewide cluster development strategy.

Prior to New Carolina, Love worked in corporate communications for German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom in Europe. During graduate school, Love developed and ran the public information program for USDA Rural Development in South Carolina.

“Amy’s background in communications and economic development in South Carolina make her a great fit for this position,” said Bobby Hitt, Secretary of Commerce. “We are excited she is joining our leadership team.”

Love holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Furman University and a master’s degree in Public Relations from the University of South Carolina. She is a a member of the Public Relations Society of America, and graduate of Leadership South Carolina (LSC) Class of 2007, and served on the LSC Board of Trustees. Love is a Fellow of the seventh class of the Liberty Fellowship.
