Rack Room Shoes’ charitable giving campaigns benefit local communities
CHARLOTTE, N.C.– Perhaps you know of an area school that would benefit from receiving a $10,000 computer lab. Or maybe you’d like to play a part in providing a local child in need a new pair of shoes as they head back to school this fall.
Beginning today, individuals have the chance to make these dreams a reality through two charitable giving campaigns hosted by Rack Room Shoes: The Back to School online photo contest and Shoes That Fit fundraiser.
Back to School online photo contest – From capturing a child’s first day of school to group shots at graduation, we all have cherished school photos that are near and dear to our hearts. People who share their best-loved snapshots have a chance to win a $10,000 computer lab for their favorite school. Additionally, each winner will take home a brand new Mac laptop. Rack Room Shoes will give away five $10,000 computer labs and five new Mac laptops.
To enter, individuals must upload their favorite school pictures – of themselves, family members or loved ones – online at www.rackroomshoes.com/schoolphoto on or before August 21. Entrants also will be asked to name a favorite school.
• After the August 21 deadline, there will be a voting period through September 5, where individuals will be encouraged to vote on the photo they like best.
• Five winners will be selected from the pictures that receive the most votes at the end of the voting period. Each winner will select his or her favorite school to receive the computer lab – and will also win a Mac laptop to keep.
Shoes That Fit fundraiser – Shoes That Fit is a national non-profit organization that provides shoes to children in need. Through Sept. 5, customers who make a donation of $5 or more will receive a complimentary Shoes That Fit tote bag. Rack Room Shoes will donate 100 percent of the proceeds to local Shoes That Fit programs. The funds stay in the communities that the store serves and are distributed to school liaisons that identify children who need new shoes.
Since Rack Room Shoes and Shoes that Fit partnered in 2007, nearly 63,000 pairs of new shoes have been provided to children who need them.
“We are grateful to serve in each and every one of our communities and believe in the importance of being a good neighbor,” said Jan Mauldin, director of marketing for Rack Room Shoes. “We feel the Back to School season is the perfect time to introduce interactive and creative ways to help support local schools and students.”
