Immedion Expands Operations, Establishes Data Center in Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Aug, 2011) Immedion, LLC, a South Carolina-based dedicated data center and managed services provider is building its third data center in Charleston, SC with plans to open in late spring. The third site further expands Immedion’s data center redundancy and disaster recovery offerings and allows Immedion to better serve the managed hosting needs of the southeast region. With the inclusion of Charleston, Immedion has colocation facilities in the upstate, midlands and the low country areas of South Carolina.

“Locating our third data center in Charleston will better enable us to meet the growing tech needs of the coastal region” comments Immedion CEO, Frank Mobley. “There is a lot of exciting growth in Charleston and we’re confident our colocation facility will be a valuable resource for many of the current businesses located here as well as ones considering coming here. In addition, the provisioning of a third, geographically diverse location allows Immedion to provide uptime for critical technology beyond the capabilities of any single data center location.”

Located in the Palmetto Commerce Park near Ladson, the Charleston County facility will be specially constructed to withstand high winds and other special conditions normally associated with coastal regions. “Our customer base is any size business with critical information technology assets located nearby,” added Mobley, “This facility will provide an ideal location for companies who want to keep these assets close by, but are in a high risk area, or have outgrown their internal capacity.”

Immedion has been servicing Charleston-based customers like eGroup for over three years. “Considering our extensive use of sophisticated technology, the need for an absolutely controlled environment that maximizes uptime, and the value of an ongoing and trusted relationship, eGroup has near-unrealistic demands for a hosting provider – in this regard, Immedion has excelled every step of the way. In our three years as a customer with Immedion, we’ve always felt more than simply accommodated, we’ve felt welcomed - as an essential part of the team” shares eGroup Principle, Mike Carter.

Today's announcement "is a prime example of how much Charleston’s knowledge-based economy is expanding," states Charleston’s Digital Corridor Executive Director, Ernest Andrade. "Immedion is the kind of company we want here and will help attract more companies with the services they provide.

The Charleston site will offer the same services as the Greenville and Columbia facilities with the goal of helping customers meet all of their IT Space, Server Power, Disaster Recovery, Cloud Computing, and Regulatory Compliance demands. Immedion’s outsourced data center services and solutions help organizations lower costs, maximize internal resources and keep valuable information technology safe 24x7x365.
