Science and Math Governor’s School to Host Upstate Legislative Reception

The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) will hold a legislative reception on Monday, October 17, 6 p.m., at Michelin on Main in Greenville.

GSSM extends invitations to SC legislators as well as School alumni, parents, supporters and friends. The reception will serve to increase statewide awareness of GSSM and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education in the state.

The core mission of GSSM is to achieve economic development in South Carolina by providing education to the state’s most scientifically astute students. The curriculum focuses primarily on STEM and includes a new economics and finance component. Students at GSSM are taught in a learning environment that develops their ability to think critically, stimulates the joy of learning, and fosters the excitement of discovery through scientific research.

The School has been nationally recognized for its strong mix of intellectual challenges, dedicated teachers, unique research opportunities and overall excellence.
