USC Head Baseball Coach Ray Tanner to speak at Midlands Technical College on importance of completing college
Ray Tanner, USC head baseball coach, will speak on the significance of completing college at the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at 4 p.m. in the Academic Center Auditorium. After his presentation, Tanner will stay to greet attendees and sign autographs. Community members are invited to attend.
Coach Tanner’s message will be the culmination of MTC’s C4 Signing Day: Touch All the Bases to College Graduation challenge. Tanner will encourage and motivate students as he speaks on the opportunities available to them with a college degree.
In conjunction with the event, MTC students are invited to sign a college completion resolution as well as submit essays on the importance of a college education. Essay winners will be announced at the event and awarded prizes.
The C4 Signing Day (Community College Completion Corps) is a national initiative of the American Association of Community Colleges, Association of Community College Trustees, National Institute of Staff and Organizational Development, League for Innovation in the Community College, the Center for Community College Student Engagement, and Phi Theta Kappa International to bring awareness to the importance of community college student degree and program completion.
MTC’s C4 Signing Day is sponsored by MTC’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society chapter, Alpha Eta Kappa, which is a recipient of the prestigious Five Star status from the national PTK association.
Midlands Technical College is a comprehensive, multi-campus, public, two-year college serving the primary region of Richland, Lexington and Fairfield counties of South Carolina.
