The purpose of the SmartState Program National Conference is to showcase to a national audience of prospective investors and research entrepreneurs the amazing knowledge-based economic development success in South Carolina through the SmartState Program.

The SmartState Program is composed of 49 unique research centers at Clemson, USC and MUSC; more than one-third of the centers are collaborations among the three research institutions; each Center of Economic Excellence is led by world-class research scientists and engineers, including members of the National Academies of Science and Engineering. Nearly all of the SmartState Endowed Chairs and research directors will be at the conference, and are eager to meet prospective researchers and investors.
The spectrum of SmartState Program research ranges from automotive engineering, advanced materials, cancer drug discovery, nanotechnology, future fuels, etc.
The SmartState Program expects to release in November that more than $1 billion in external investment has entered the state economy, and is committed to enter the state economy, through the SmartState Program.
