Greenville Business Magazine Names Rick Davis Business Person of the Year, 2011

(Greenville, SC – November 9, 2011) — Greenville Business Magazine and Clemson at the Falls honored Rick Davis, Managing Shareholder of Elliott Davis, LLC, as the Business Person of the Year, 2011 at a gala ceremony on November 5.

At the black-tie award dinner, Davis presented a keynote address detailing his professional work and his business philosophy to an audience of Upstate peers and colleagues. He was introduced by Dr. Claude Lilly, PhD, Dean of the College of Business and Behavioral Science at Clemson University.

As GBM publisher Lori J. Coon noted, “Rick is a stellar example of the person Greenville Business Magazine had in mind when we created this award. Its purpose seems simple enough: to recognize an outstanding business executive in the greater Greenville area. The stringent criteria, however, weed out all but the most deserving of candidates: We expect principled business leadership, strategic thinking, a relentless pursuit of excellence, robust workplace values, and significant participation within the community itself.”

A Clemson graduate and a Certified Public Accountant for more than 25 years, Davis has been a driving force at Elliott Davis for the extent of his professional life. The company, recognized as the largest tax, accounting, and consulting services firm headquartered in South Carolina, benefits from Davis’s leadership in strategic planning, business development, revenue generation, employee recruiting, and community relations. He is also a board member of numerous business, arts, and charitable organizations in the Upstate, including the SC Chamber of Commerce, the Greenville County Museum of Art, and Upstate Alliance. In addition, Davis has been instrumental in nurturing local business growth, from cultivating expansions and relocations to coordinating funding for fledgling companies to instituting “Drive Business Downtown,” a springtime networking and civic appreciation event.

The celebratory evening, also sponsored by Certus Bank, took place at the Crowne Plaza Greenville Hotel and was catered by Ruth’s Chris Steak House. A tribute video, biography, and event photography, plus footage of Davis’s speech, will be available at
