Greenville Celebrates Opening of UBS Ice on Main

With a ceremonial skate around a newly constructed rink, the city of Greenville celebrated the opening today of a one-of-a-kind attraction: UBS Ice on Main.

“The Christmas season is a wonderful time for family traditions,” said Greenville Mayor Knox White. “This year UBS Ice on Main begins a new family tradition, right in the middle of downtown Greenville.”

UBS Ice on Main is located next to Greenville City Hall on the Village Green at Main@Broad and runs through Jan. 8. The Village Green has been converted into a 3,200-square-foot skating rink with real ice. Visitors and local residents are invited to bring their skates, rent a pair onsite, or simply grab a cup of hot chocolate from the concession stand and enjoy the holiday spirit.

“What a pleasure it will be to see everyone heading up and down Main Street, making UBS Ice on Main part of their holiday plans,” said Steve Armaly, vice president-investments with Ice on Main’s title sponsor, UBS Financial Services Inc. “Greenville already has an award-winning downtown and UBS is proud to help make the quality of life here even better.”

The Courtyard by Marriott Greenville Downtown has partnered with the City of Greenville to provide the physical space for UBS Ice on Main. Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, Greenville Hospital System and The Spinx Co. are platinum sponsors.

Admission to UBS Ice on Main is $10 for adults, $8 for children age 12 and under. Details can be found at www.IceOnMain.com.
