Brent Jeffcoat, Matt Davis Join Pope Zeigler, Firm Grows To Eight Public Finance Lawyers

Columbia, South Carolina –- March 6, 2012 Two new partners, Brent Jeffcoat and Matt Davis, have joined Pope Zeigler, a Columbia-based law firm concentrating on governmental law, public finance and public utility regulation. Davis received his JD from the University of Virginia in 1998 and his BA in History from the University of Michigan. He serves as bond counsel and counsel to underwriters with a focus on K-12 education, higher education and general governmental and land-based transactions.

Jeffcoat's career in public finance spans more than 35 years. He has served as bond counsel to governmental entities in South Carolina and North Carolina for public projects such as public schools, courthouses, jails, roads, and public colleges and universities. His work has included revenue bonds for multiple public and private enterprises such as public and non-profit hospitals, utilities, airports and ports, K-12 education and higher education. He has also participated in financings for public infrastructure projects including toll bridge development and public transit (rail and light rail) projects. Jeffcoat received his BA and JD from the University of South Carolina.

Jeffcoat is a member of the Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina bars, while Davis is a member of the North Carolina and South Carolina bars.
