The Search is on for the Upstate’s Worst Website

GREENVILLE, S.C. – All caps and bad fonts. Glaring colors. Hard to find contact info. Outdated photos. Dead links.

These are the hallmarks of a bad website. Everyone knows it, but only one Upstate company is doing something about it. Web content creation and design company, Engenius, is sponsoring the inaugural “Upstate’s Worst Website Competition” and submissions are being taken.

Any business in the Upstate is eligible to apply. A panel of judges will select the finalists then the decision will be up to the voting public. The website with the most votes (making it the official worst website) will receive a website makeover at no cost from Engenius, a leading provider of business and nonprofit websites.

“We appreciate the opportunity to bring attention to really bad websites – and hopefully motivate business leaders to improve them,” said Chris Manley, managing partner. “All joking aside, a website is like a storefront window for a business. If it looks bad, it turns people away, and that’s not good for anyone’s business.”

The competition is free to enter, but submissions must be made by an owner or authorized employee of the business. Groups have until May 7 to nominate their website. Voting begins May 14. Learn more at www.upstatesworstwebsite.com.
