Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Small Business Administration and South Carolina Coalition for Small Business and Entrepreneurship will present the ninth annual Salute to Small Business on Wednesday, May 16, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The mission of the Salute is to connect entrepreneurs to new business opportunities and to honor the small businesses that drive the state’s economy. This year’s featured events include a small business procurement matchmaker and an awards luncheon.

The matchmaker will give small businesses one-on-one time with procurement representatives from the private- and public-sector, as well as with business consultants and service providers. The 39 confirmed matchmaker participants include organizations like Boeing, Medical University of South Carolina, National Nuclear Security Administration and the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

The awards luncheon will honor the state winners of the SBA’s small business awards, including 2012 South Carolina Small Business Person of the Year Radha Herring, owner of Watermark Real Estate Group in Myrtle Beach. Herring will represent South Carolina during SBA’s National Small Business Week celebration May 20-23 in Washington, D.C.

In addition to the matchmaker and awards luncheon, the Salute will feature exhibitors and a networking room throughout the morning.
