Times and technologies have changed. For a great many new products we no longer need to spend years to develop a prototype. Carving and fabricating parts can be done within hours by machines that cost as little as $1300. Rapid Prototyping service centers have reduced fixed labor costs and increased speed for proof of concept, concept testing and test-marketing. This first session of a two-part series on rapid prototyping will:

Discuss current state of the art
Look at some possible scenarios for continued growth

We will start with networking, dinner, and a brief tour of the TPM rapid prototyping facility (optional). Then we will have a highly interactive panel discussion. Join us live or, if you can't make it in person, virtually!

Speakers

Donald Erich - Don has spent the last 16+ years as Director of the Clemson Engineering Technologies Laboratory (CETL) where he brought Computer Assisted Design and 3D modeling software and extended these "virtual" prototyping capabilities by adding several 3D printing and 3D scanning technologies. Don received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA and did post-graduate studies at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.

Mike Jaeggli - Mike has worked on rapid prototyping bio-medical parts such as heart valves. He is a former scientist at Poly-Med and a researcher at the Howard Hugues Medical Institute at U. Colorado, Boulder. Mike is currently a PhD candidate at Clemson (BioEngineering product development).

Don will speak on Rapid Prototyping techniques and Chris will share with us how they have implemented Rapid Prototyping.
