ADEX Machining Technologies Awarded Contract Produce High Temperature Combustion Components for Industrial Gas Turbines

GREENVILLE, SC, May 23, 2012) – ADEX Machining Technologies, a manufacturer of precision machined components for aerospace, defense and energy industries, announced today that it has been awarded a contract by Siemens Energy and division of German based Siemens AG (NYSE: SI) to produce high temperature combustion components for industrial gas turbines assembled at Siemen’s Charlotte, North Carolina facility. The parts are manufactured from exotic metal “super-alloy” materials using highly advanced 5 axis CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Milling and require intensive quality assurance measurements with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) technologies, along with a number of special processes requiring extensive qualifications, auditing, and testing.

In March 2010, Siemens announced the consolidation of gas-turbine operations from Hamilton, Ontario, and Orlando, Florida, to Charlotte, North Carolina. Siemens invested $170 million to expand the existing Charlotte facility located at 5101 Westinghouse Blvd to 1 million total square feet for the production and repair of gas turbines and the creation of 825 new jobs over 5 years, bringing the total to 1,800 employees. The facility, touted by Siemens as the most advanced gas turbine production site in North America, became fully operational in fall 2011 and produces 60-Hz gas turbines for markets in North and South America, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the Philippines and Japan.

“We’re honored to be chosen as a supplier for Siemens Energy and proud to play a role in supporting their strategic initiatives to create a lean supply chain," said Jason Premo, CEO and Co-Owner of ADEX Machining Technologies. "Every day around the world Siemens submits 20 patents and 40 inventions, and also has a great track record of partnering with their communities and technical colleges for workforce development. It is truly exciting to have such an innovative company here in the Carolina’s and creates enormous growth opportunities for local suppliers such as ADEX and many others.”

Premo and fellow co-owner, Sean Witty, acquired a small tool & die job-shop in 2007 and implemented an aggressive modernization strategy during the height of the recession to create ADEX – an advanced manufacturer of precision machined components for the aerospace, defense and energy industries. ADEX was recently awarded a contract with The Boeing Company for the production of aerospace Titanium alloy components for 777 commercial passenger jetliners and also featured on a CNN television news program segment titled “The New Face of the Blue Collar Worker”.
