South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Math Kicks Off GoSciTech
The Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) will kick off GoSciTech, the School’s annual summer camp experience, on Sunday, June 10. The camp, which takes place on the GSSM campus in Hartsville, will run for three weeks this month: June 10 – 16, June 17 – 23, and June 24 - 30.
Known as the Summer Science Program (SSP) since 1989, GoSciTech was enhanced this year in response to campers’ requests for a wider variety of hard-hitting science and technology experiences. Still offering traditional courses like physics, chemistry and robotics, GoSciTech now includes exciting new choices such as Pre-Med Anatomy, Electronics & Programming, and Marine Biology.
Serving rising 8th, 9th and 10th graders from across the Palmetto State, GoSciTech provides opportunities to explore the endless possibilities of science and technology in an interactive, residential environment. All camps are led by college, university and GSSM professors, along with other professionals in their respective fields. Students choose from a variety of experiences, gaining knowledge that can positively impact their future.
Members of the media are invited to attend camp on Wednesday, June 20, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., on the GSSM campus in Hartsville, 401 Railroad Avenue. For more information, contact Leigh Hewlett at 803-252-9152 or [email protected].
