Pope Zeigler Partner Margaret Pope Elected to Governor's School for the Arts Foundation Board

Columbia, South Carolina – June 30, 2012 Margaret Pope, public finance attorney and partner with Pope Zeigler, has been elected to the Governor's School for the Arts Foundation Board of Directors. The foundation, established in 1985, works to increase awareness and raise funds for the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities, a premier public high school for emerging artists. The Foundation's contributions to the School average more than $450,000 annually.

"As a child I watched my Mother immerse herself in helping school children get prescription glasses, and some of my fondest memories as a young lawyer are of helping children learn to read through a public school reading program," says Pope. "I feel as if I'm returning a little to my roots in serving on the Governor's School Foundation board. It's a real privilege to work with other leaders in South Carolina who are so passionate about providing children with a great learning opportunity that fits their unique skills and hopes for the future."

Pope is president and founding member of The Crescent Society, a group dedicated to "recognizing and inspiring leadership excellence in South Carolina women;" a member of the board of directors and past president of the American College of Bond Counsel; and past chair of the South Carolina Commission on Women. She graduated with a degree in political science from Emory University, then went on to receive a JD from USC's School of Law. She is a member of the South Carolina bar, as well as the National Association of Bond Lawyers.
