USGBC SC Chapter Announces New Leadership

The SC Chapter Chair, Denise Sherman recently resigned, which left a leadership opening.

Mark Godfrey who had been elected Vice Chair, became Chair for the remainder of 2012 and will remain Chair for 2013. Mark, an Architect and LEED Accredited Professional (AP), has served in various roles with the SC Chapter over the last five years. Mark graduated from Clemson with a Masters in Architecture and has also been Chair and Vice Chair of the Upstate Branch.

The SC Chapter Board of Directors took nominations to fill the Vice Chair opening and selected Bachman Smith for the remainder of 2012. Bachman is a litigation attorney practicing in the areas of construction defense and admiralty law with Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, PA in Charleston. Bachman received a BA from The University of the South, an MA from The Citadel, and a JD from the University of South Carolina.

Bachman had been Secretary of the SC Chapter, so the Board of Directors took nominations and selected Dan Gerst Secretary for the remainder of 2012. As Secretary, Dan also joins the SC Chapter Board of Directors and Executive Committee and remains Communications Chair.

Gerst received his Bachelor of Architecture and BS in Environmental Design from Ball State University and has authored a white paper on Green Building Trends that was just published in the June 2012 issue of Sustainability: The Journal of Record.
