Phillips Staffing Chooses New Headquarters Location in Greenville, SC
An “economic development engine” for 50 years, staffing firm returns
to its downtown roots
GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC, August 10, 2012— Phillips Staffing, one of South Carolina’s earliest staffing and human resource service providers, has relocated its corporate headquarters to downtown Greenville to accommodate growth in its recruiting, sales and marketing, and administrative operations serving clients across the Carolinas and Georgia.
The new operations are located at 55 East Camperdown Way in the former Bowater Building, along with co-tenants Clemson University and the Nexsen Pruet law firm, company officials and representatives of the Greenville Area Development Corporation announced today. Company investment and future job additions in the expanded operations were not disclosed.
Launched in 1968 in a spare bedroom of founder Sam B. Phillips, Jr.’s home, Phillips Staffing today is a full-service staffing, payroll management, professional placement and HR consulting firm with 75 staffers and close to 3,000 temporary employees on assignment for clients across the Southeast on any given day. Still headquartered in Greenville 44 years after its founding, Phillips Staffing remains focused on delivering superior talent, outstanding client service, innovative solutions, being active community leaders, and operating with the highest integrity.
“Our goal with this corporate move is to send a clear signal about Phillips Staffing’s commitment to Greenville and the Upstate, and to our customers here in the Carolinas and Georgia, that we are here to support them and to help them grow and prosper with the people they need to be successful as they emerge from the economic down cycle of the last few years,” said Blanton Phillips, CEO of Phillips Staffing.
“We are absolutely committed to providing outstanding client service, delivering and developing exceptional talent, supporting the communities we operate in and operating with the highest integrity,” added Phillips. “We are pleased to establish our new headquarters here in Greenville, are very appreciative for the support and leadership of the Greenville Area Development Corporation and all who assisted in making our announcement a reality.”
Phillips, with a dozen offices across South Carolina and in Georgia, has been an economic development engine for nearly 50 years, helping regional companies find and develop the talent they need to be successful, noted Phillips Staffing president Ed Parris.
“Our expertise lies in identifying and matching the right talent to the right employers, and in focusing on improving the workforce, not just placing people in jobs,” Parris said. “Our focus on workforce development and our involvement in community economic development organizations like the GADC has been a real differentiator through the years.”
“Businesses, and especially advanced manufacturers, continue to grow their operations and need top talent, and today’s announcement by Phillips is another indication that Greenville County’s business-friendly climate attracts both new organizations and helps our existing businesses to thrive,” said Greenville Area Development Corporation president and CEO Jerry Howard.
“We congratulate Phillips Staffing on their growth and successful move downtown, and salute them for their support of workforce development initiatives, the WorkKeys certification and assessment program, and their leadership in supporting employment for honorably discharged veterans of the United States military, among numerous initiatives.”
