BioGram Alert
For The Latest Biotech News in South Carolina

The countdown to BIO2001 is on! Members of the SC Biotechnology Association,
including Executive Director Nancy Thurmond, and Chairman Robert K. Odom, MD,
are gearing up to be among the biotech industry leaders expected at the BIO
200l International Convention in San Diego, June 24 –27.

The following South Carolina companies will be attending the convention:

Fluor Daniel
Eastman Chemical Company
SC Department of Commerce
Piedmont Technical College
York Technical College
ArborGen LLC
Greenwood County Economic Alliance
Sumter County Development Board
SC Board for Technical & Comprehensive Education

This is an excellent opportunity for our State to network, to attend business
development sessions and to explore partnering possibilities at the
world’s largest annual International Biotechnology Convention.
Exhibitions from around the world will display the most advanced biotech
products in health care, agriculture, industrial, manufacturing and
environmental management. Leaders in business, government, science, patient
advocacy, bioethics, education, and the media will discuss the latest
innovations, research and critical issues. Patrick Kelly has agreed to meet
with the South Carolina attendees at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 25 at the BIO
booth. Over 12,000 people will be attending this year’s event – a
golden opportunity to share ideas on how the biotech industry can continue to
improve the world.

Biopure, the innovative and highly successful blood substitute company, will be
in Booth 1129. One of South Carolina’s newest industries, Biopure, will
soon be coming to Sumter, South Carolina.

BIO 2001 is the largest biotechnology exhibition of its kind. It features more
than 200 symposia and presentations on the latest scientific research and
product developments as well as bioethics, other public policy issues and
business regulatory and financial strategies.

From this year’s meeting we hope the Department of Commerce for South
Carolina will team with us to do a South Carolina Booth next year at BIO 2002
– Toronto, Canada-- June 9-12.
