Health Management Programs
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 2001--Landacorp, Inc. (Nasdaq:LCOR), a
leading provider of strategic healthcare management solutions to health plans
and provider organizations, today announced an agreement with Blue Cross and
Blue Shield of South Carolina to offer Landacorp's Managing for Tomorrow(TM)
population health management programs for asthma, diabetes and heart disease
and its Expecting for Tomorrow(TM) program for maternity management and smoking
cessation. The agreement, which will have an initial term of two years, will be
offered to HMO Blue members of Blue Cross and Blue Shield South Carolina and be
available to Preferred Blue PPO customers. The Managing for Tomorrow and
Expecting for Tomorrow programs were developed by Landacorp's Population Health
Management Group (formerly ProMedex, Inc.).
"Managing for Tomorrow helps us carry our disease management initiatives to
the next level," said Stacey Brennan, MD, FAAFP, HMO Blue Medical Director.
"These are programs that our network physicians can embrace as we work together
to promote proficient patient self-management, and effective communication
between doctors and patients. For the first time, these programs will address
individual patients with multiple conditions, rather than administer multiple
programs with often the same patient in many of them," said Dr. Brennan.
Participation in these confidential programs is completely voluntary, and
begins with a member completing a detailed health profile over the phone or on
the Internet. The member is then classified based on his or her risk level and
self-management skills. All members who participate receive personalized health
interventions including individually tailored educational materials.
