Columbia Information Technology Council Announces First Monthly Members' Lunch
Meeting
Mike LeFever of S.C. governor's Technology Transition Team to speak
COLUMBIA, S.C. June 13, 2001 The Columbia Information Technology Council
(ITC) today announced that its first Monthly Members' Lunch Meeting will
feature a presentation from Mike LeFever, serving as Governor Jim Hodges'
liaison to the Technology Transition Team. The luncheon will be held at the
Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce on June 18, at noon.
The monthly luncheons provide an opportunity for the community's technology
leaders to share their views on attracting new information technology companies
to the Columbia area. The event is free to ITC members; $5 for non-members, who
are also advised to make reservations through the Chamber.
"We look forward to hearing Mike's observations on the future of technology in
South Carolina," said Ike McLeese, president of the Greater Columbia Chamber of
Commerce. "His participation in this event marks the symbolic beginning of a
relationship between the governor's team and the ITC. These two groups share
the common desire of bringing more technology companies to this area, and I
believe the organizations can benefit each other greatly."
The Technology Transition Team is a diverse group of business leaders,
technology entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and leaders of South Carolina's
research universities. The team will promote the close cooperation of community
and business leaders on technology issues, while tapping into the resources of
South Carolina's research universities. They will also examine the potential of
current and emerging technologies, while also developing a comprehensive
strategy to bring high-tech firms to South Carolina and grow local technology
start-ups.
