Columbia Information Technology Council Announces Networking Event
Group to unveil new Web sites benefiting technology community
COLUMBIA, S.C. July 18, 2001 The Columbia Information Technology Council
(ITC) today announced its second networking event, which will bring together
the area's leading IT professionals to launch two new Web sites promoting
Columbia high-tech assets.
The gathering will be co-hosted by BellSouth and LogicSouth in the new
BellSouth Auditorium, 1600 Williams Street, on July 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.
LogicSouth recently joined the Council as a sponsor at the Platinum level in an
endeavor to assume more responsibility for promoting the local technical
community.
"This event is a great opportunity for the community to see a large corporation
like BellSouth working and sharing with smaller local companies like
LogicSouth," said Heather Rice-Ferrante, executive vice president for
LogicSouth, Inc. "Such co-operation is important as Columbia continues to
expand its technology infrastructure."
The ITC will unveil its new Internet site, www.ITC.ColumbiaChamber.com,
developed for the benefit of members and non-members alike. Included in the
site are the latest technology news stories, membership and sponsorship
information, an updated calendar of events, and a members-only section full of
technology information.
Columbia Mayor Bob Coble will be on hand at the networking event to unveil the
city's new Tech Hub site. The site is a partnership between the City of
Columbia, the Office of Economic Development and the ITC, and is hosted through
Levity Technologies.
"The Internet provides a great opportunity for us to share Columbia's quality
of life with the rest of the world," said Ike McLeese, president of the Greater
Columbia Chamber of Commerce. "The unveiling of the ITC's Internet site is a
big step toward continued growth of our IT community. Since the Web is
everywhere today, this site will provide the information businesses need to
recognize Columbia as a great location."
