Columbia ITC Accepting Nominations For 2nd Annual Palmetto Pillar Awards
Awards Recognize Area's High-Tech Leaders, Products, Services
COLUMBIA, S.C.December 19, 2002The Columbia Information Technology Council
(ITC) announced today that it is seeking nominations for the 2nd Annual
Columbia ITC Palmetto Pillar Awards, which will be presented May 8, 2003.
Designed to publicly recognize individuals and organizations spearheading
technology achievement in the Midlands, these awards provide support to
technology innovators and promote technology growth in the Midlands business
community. ''Last year's awards ceremony proved to be a successful way to
highlight true technology leadership in our community,'' says Bob Hudson,
chairman of the Columbia ITC. ''The first ceremony laid the foundation, proving
that the Columbia area has numerous persons and organizations worthy of
recognition for their efforts. We encourage everyone to review the awards
criteria and nominate those companies and persons who are truly making a
difference in the local technology field.''
The six categories for nominations are:
Technology Application for the innovative use of an existing technology
Technology Development for the development of a new or improved
technology-based product, process or service
Technology in Education for innovative technology-based projects and programs
that impact education in the Midlands
Community Service for technology that improves the quality of life for a
Midlands community
Small Enterprise for the small business that develops the most innovative
technology-based product, process or service; and
Individual Achievement honoring the individual exhibiting a strong commitment
to the advancement of technology in the Midlands of South Carolina.
A complete description of guidelines, judging criteria and sponsorships can be
found on the ITC's website, www.ColumbiaChamberITC.com, along with nomination
forms that can be mailed, faxed, e-mailed, or completed online. The deadline
for nominations is February 14, 2003. Finalists will be notified in March, with
the awards presented at the Greater Columbia ITC Palmetto Pillar Awards Gala on
May 8, 2003, at the Capital City Club in downtown Columbia. Tickets will be
available soon.
