Columbia ITC Seeks Nominations for Technology Awards

Columbia ITC Palmetto Pillar Awards to Recognize Midlands Technology Leaders

COLUMBIA, S.C. - November 14, 2001 - The Columbia Information Technology
Council (ITC) today announced that it is seeking nominations for the inaugural
Columbia ITC Palmetto Pillar Awards.

Designed to formally recognize individuals and organizations who are
spearheading technology achievement in the Midlands, the awards provide the
opportunity to enable and support technology innovators in this region. "The
Columbia ITC Palmetto Pillar Awards will spotlight those who are the technology
leaders today and those who are poised to provide future breakthroughs," says
Cheryl Seminara, chairman of the Columbia ITC. "Despite the current economic
downturn, the Midlands is an incubator for innovation, invention and creativity
in multiple technology sectors. It's definitely the right time to recognize
those who are leading the way."

Columbia ITC Palmetto Pillar Awards are in six categories: Technology
Application, Technology Development, Technology in Education, Community
Service, Small Enterprise and Individual Achievement. "Nominations are open
anyone knowing of a person or organization who they feel should be an award
candidate is invited to submit a nomination," says Seminara.

The deadline for nominations is December 31, 2001. Finalists will be notified
in mid-January and awards will be presented on February, 7, 2002, at the
Columbia ITC Palmetto Pillar Awards Gala. Additional information about the
awards and nomination entry forms are available at
