COLUMBIA, S.C.—February 6, 2003—The Columbia Information Technology Council
(ITC) announced today the first sponsors for the 2003 Palmetto Pillar Awards
ceremony, scheduled for May 8 at the Capital City Club. Columbia-area

by sponsoring awards and the overall event.
Four organizations are underwriting this year's ceremony as Event Sponsors.
They include the law firm of Nexsen Pruet Jacobs Pollard, ITC Delta Com,
BellSouth and the South Carolina Technology Alliance.
Nexsen Pruet Jacobs Pollard is also backing the Technology Application Award,
which recognizes a company or organization for the innovative application of an
existing technology for internal purposes or commercial use.
NYS Staffing advocates this year's Technology Development Award. This award
recognizes a company or organization for the development of a new or improved
technology-based product, process or service that may be utilized for internal
purposes or commercial use.
Xerox Corporation sponsors the Community Service Award. This award recognizes
an organization for establishing and/or supporting innovative, technology-based
projects and programs that improve the quality of life. Contributions may be
made in time or in resources and must support one or more Midlands communities.
Adelphia Business Solutions sponsors the Individual Achievement Award, which
honors an individual who exhibits a commitment to the advancement of technology
in the Midlands community through his/her technology-oriented contributions.
"Sponsoring this event and these awards proves that these businesses and
organizations believe in the mission of the ITC," said Bob Hudson, ITC
chairman. "We truly appreciate their support of our efforts and are empowered
by them to continue our efforts to strengthen Columbia's technology growth. One
of the greatest means for accomplishing this task is by offering recognition to
those persons and companies that serve as our community's technology pillars."
