Dr. Barbara H. Wells Becomes CEO of ArborGen LLC

SUMMERVILLE, S.C., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Barbara H. Wells will be
the new Chief Executive Officer of ArborGen LLC effective September 1, 2002.
Dr. Wells brings to ArborGen a strong scientific and commercial background in
biotechnology on a global basis.
ArborGen LLC, formed in 2000, is a forestry biotechnology company that
develops and commercializes technology, products and services to generate
environmental and productivity benefits for the forestry industry and tree
community globally. The company headquarters are in Summerville, SC, and it
conducts extensive research in the United States and in New Zealand.

Dr. Wells comes to ArborGen from Emergent Genetics, Inc., where she was
Vice President for Latin America. Prior to that she worked for 17 years at
Monsanto where her responsibilities included Regional Director of the U.S.
southern region; co-manager of the agricultural sector and commercial
biotechnology manager in Brazil; Roundup Ready soybean global team leader; and
regional product development manager for forestry and agronomic crops. She
was raised in an expatriate family in Bolivia and is fluent in English,
Spanish and Portuguese.
